The pilot goes to record the book after flying through two tunnels

One of the goals of flying is to feel free and have a piece of heaven for yourself, but this was the opposite of what the pilot had experienced in the record books.

Italian pilot Dario Costa hit another Red Bull craziness: flying not just inside one tunnel, but inside two tunnels, and taking off from inside one. The insane maneuver, performed only in flight simulators for fun, was completed on the ground this morning (4) in Turkey.

Two tunnels on the highway near Istanbul have been closed to the frenzy of the world’s most famous energy drink team. In addition to the pilot program, 40 people directly involved in the record attempt were required, as well as special permission from the authorities and the assumption of responsibilities.

The aircraft selected was the American-made Zivko Edge 540, known worldwide for its exceptional performance in aerobatic flight, which collects a host of awards. The Catalca Double Tunnels have a total length of 1610 m, excluding the part that does not pass underground (360 m in length).

The Edge 540 reached a top speed of 245 km/h and covered a track of 1970 meters in just 43.44 seconds. Thus, I broke 5 records at once:

the first aircraft to fly through a tunnel in history;
The longest flight under a solid object (1610 m);
the first aircraft to fly inside two tunnels simultaneously;
The first plane takes off from inside a tunnel;
The longest journey in a tunnel.
