A wild Malaysian monkey ‘kidnapped’ a puppy for three days in Malaysia. The animal took the pup and carried it to the top of a pole, and when it saw the humans, it began to run over the roofs and ran along the power lines.
Locals believe the monkey took a puppy from a pack of stray dogs in the neighborhood on Thursday (16), according to the New York Post. His name was Saroo.
Although he took the dog to the tops of the supports and trees, the primates seemed to take good care of the pup, keeping him in his arms.
A neighbor, Cherry Lew Yee Lee, spoke to the video channel Newsflare in London. “The puppy looked tired, but we saw that the monkey didn’t seem to hurt him. He was holding him while he was moving,” he said.
Saving Saroo was possible only after three days, when the residents decided to throw stones at the primates, concerned with providing the puppy with adequate food and housing conditions. This made the monkey drop the chick into the bush and run away.
Saroo was adopted by a neighbor and he is fine.
This isn’t the first time monkeys have stolen things – and animals – in Malaysia. NS News It highlights that the government receives about 3,800 complaints about primates each year. This prompted the country’s wildlife department to set up a culling program in pulp, which killed up to 70,000 monkeys annually between 2013 and 2016.
