The NFL on Monday (28) revealed five of the teams that will play games outside the United States in 2022. The list includes the Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints.
Earlier this month, the NFL announced that five games would be played outside the United States, in three different countries. In addition to the traditional matches played in the United Kingdom, the international calendar of the league was expanded with the return of Mexico and the debut of Germany.
Jaguar hosts the team’s annual trip to Wembley Stadium, London. The other two games will take place in the British capital at Tottenham Hotspur, and it will be the home of the Green Bay Packers and the New Orleans Saints. The Packers will be the 32nd team in the league that plays in London.
In Mexico City, the Cardinals will return to their homeland. In 2005, in the first valid NFL international regular-season game, Arizona was the host team on Mexican soil.
Already at the debut of the NFL in Germany, in Munich, the Pirates will be the mainstay. The five visiting teams will be announced at a later date, as the regular season calendar is revealed.
Peter O’Reilly, the NFL’s executive vice president of business and events, celebrated the expansion of the international calendar in 2022.
“We are very excited to produce five games outside the US in 2022, and we thank the clubs for their continued commitment to the international growth of the sport. Our fans in Germany, Mexico and the UK can look forward to seeing the biggest names and stars in the league and enjoying an array of fantastic events.”
