BRASILIA (Reuters) – Foreign Secretary Carlos Franசாois received a call on Thursday from Britain’s Secretary of State Liz Trace to discuss the situation in Ukraine.
On its official social media, Itamaraty announced that the two foreign ministers had discussed the crisis and acknowledged the “importance of finding a diplomatic solution to the crisis under international law.”
According to the post, both “actively defended sovereignty, territorial integrity of the states and peaceful resolution of conflicts”.
A new meeting of the United Nations Security Council is scheduled for Friday, and the British president announced on his Twitter account that he had spent the day on phone calls with other European countries and across the continent. Among them are Brazil, India and Canada.
So far, Itamaraty has issued a note in which it expresses “serious concern” about the Russian attack, but does not explicitly condemn the act.
