The United Nations Security Council on Wednesday asked the United Kingdom to insist on a temporary ceasefire in the conflict zones to vaccinate against the corona virus, promising a “moral obligation”.
Foreign Minister Dominic Robb, who chaired the council in February, said his draft resolution would require “equal access” to vaccines against Govt-19 worldwide.
“Global vaccine protection is essential to defeat the corona virus,” Rob said in a statement, underscoring the need for a temporary ceasefire that puts more than 160 million people at risk in conflict zones such as Yemen, South Sudan, Somalia and Ethiopia.
“We have a moral obligation to act and a strategic need to defeat this virus,” he argued.
The UK has pledged around 30 630 million (approximately 7 60,760 million) for the Kovacs organization for global access to the Covit-19 vaccine, which will be the basis of the Security Council meeting and the Telematics Summit. Friday, to push for more donations.
