According to the municipal health department, three more cases are under investigation.
The Campos Health Department confirmed another case of monkeypox. With this said, there are already three residents of the municipality with the disease. The first two cases were confirmed by the agency in early August (see here). The volume also stated that there was no local transmission of monkeypox. All patients had a travel history. In Brazil, according to the latest update from the Ministry of Health, on August 21, there are 3,788 confirmed cases. In doing so, the country has overtaken the United Kingdom and Germany, and is now the third most confirmed patient in the world.
There are three confirmed cases in the municipality’s residents and another three suspected of the disease. Among the confirmed cases, one patient remains hospitalized in an isolation bed at the Infectious Parasitic Diseases Sector, at Ferreira Machado Hospital (HFM). The secretary said in a note that the second patient was discharged from home isolation on August 12 and the third is in isolation in the municipality of Rio de Janeiro under health observation.”
According to the municipal authority, among the three suspected cases under investigation, all of them have been isolated at home, after undergoing outpatient care. Patients continue to be monitored through health surveillance.
imported cases
There is also a confirmed imported case: a resident of Rio de Janeiro who started his protocol in Campos dos Goytacazes and the case is under transfer to the municipality of residence. There is also a suspect imported from São João Pará who is in the same process.
