GOL will conduct a rescue flight in Noronha using a Voepass helicopter

About 30 of the Longington passengers are stranded on Fernando de Noronha Island and must be rescued by another airline.

GOL passengers were directly affected by a decision by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) to prevent jet aircraft from landing at Fernando de Noronha Airport. They are at the island’s airport and there is no way back and they are waiting for a solution from the airline, which can no longer land its planes there.

The company did not disclose the number of customers in this case, but local media reported that about 30 people were affected.

According to ANAC, the action was necessary after checking the safety risks of the operation due to the deterioration of the runway. Given the situation, the agency has set a partial restriction of flights to restore asphalt. The decision prevents turboprop aircraft, such as Boeing and Embraer models, from carrying out operations at Fernando de Noronha. However, the use of turboprop aircraft is allowed.

GOL does not have this type of aircraft in its fleet, but it has signed an agreement with another airline, Voepass, to search for its customers. According to the company, this trip will take place next Wednesday (19).

GOL has prioritized communication with all concerned customers since Anac’s announcement on 10/06. Emails, SMS and phone calls were sent to minimize impacts. The company informed that on Wednesday (10/19) it will carry out an additional operation in partnership with VOEPASS to serve customers with tickets for the Noronha-Recife extension that are still on the island. In addition, GOL offers all the facilities to the passengers, according to the needs of each case”explained in a note.

This will be Voepass’s first operation on Fernando de Noronha Island.
