US and UK may modernize Ukraine’s Soviet-era drones for attacks on Russian airfields

Military expert Konstantin Zhivkov believes that London and Washington may have been involved in recent drone attacks against Russian military forces.

According to the expert, the Ukrainian Armed Forces used modernized Soviet-made Strysh drones with modern spare parts for the attacks.

“Western intelligence services can designate a flight path that crosses the air defense zone.” Ukrainians don’t have any such data,” Chivkov was quoted as saying by the Public News Service.

UK and US have space intelligence system, expert said. Also, both countries have experience of conducting such drone strikes. He believes that British experts can modernize Soviet UAVs.

  • On the morning of December 6, an unmanned aerial vehicle struck a military airfield in Kursk, Russia. A fuel tank was damaged and caught fire as a result of the attack. No one was injured.
  • On December 5, three Russian soldiers were killed when a Ukrainian UAV struck Engels Airfield in Russia’s Saratov Region and Diaghilev Airfield in Ryazan Region. Four others were injured and hospitalized. The aim of Ukraine’s armed forces is to undermine long-range aviation, the Ministry of Defense said.
