President-elect, Luis Inacio Lula da Silva (PT), spoke to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, over phone today.
Sunak “reiterated his congratulations” to Lula for winning the Brazilian election and the two “agreed on the importance of promoting democratic values,” the British government said in a statement. During the call, they tackled topics such as democracy and environmental protection.
The president-elect told Britain of plans to protect Brazil’s biodiversity “and make the transition to a green economy”.

“Our countries have many things in common, including a love of football, so we offer our condolences for tonight’s results,” he wrote.
