Portuguese deported from England (2nd time) after assaulting police.

UA 23-year-old Portuguese man will soon be deported from the United Kingdom for the second time in three years after attacking several policemen in Bourtown, Northern Ireland.

According to local press, when the sentence was read last Friday, December 30, 2022, the judge said it was “in everyone’s interest” for the young man to leave the country quickly.

The Portuguese, identified by the Armagi website as Rafael Amato Mendes Balte, were convicted of “disorderly conduct, resistance to the police and illegal stay in the UK”.

In the early hours of November 5, 2022, Rafael was caught with a group of other youths at the door of a shop that had already closed. When approached by the authorities, the Portuguese fled. He was caught shortly after, but, while being arrested, he stabbed one of the agents and escaped again. A few hours later, he was found in a garden, where he was arrested.

At the time of his arrest, Rafael refused to identify himself. Later, officials realized why. He was deported from the UK in November 2020, meaning he was in the country illegally.

In court, after being called “by his mother”, the defense assured him that the Portuguese was only in Portadown for “family circumstances” and that he had a scheduled flight back to Portugal the morning after his arrest.

Soon, Raphael would be exiled back to Portugal.
