The term Nomophobia was created by YouGov, a UK-based research organization, and the word originates from the English combination: no + mobile + phone + phobia. The study conducted by the Foundation included the participation of 2,163 people, and proved that about 58% of men and 47% of women suffer from Nomophobia, while the other 9% feel nervous when the phone is turned off.
Phobia is one of the types of anxiety disorders, and psychologist Elisa Nieva Vieira explains about it: “Anxiety disorders are a group of psychological disorders that affect millions of people around the world. These disorders can include symptoms such as fear, excessive anxiety, lack of concentration, difficulty sleeping, and others.”
