Music icon Sir Elton John is taking his first steps towards retirement. And the 75-year-old icon — who will attend tomorrow’s Oscars in LA with husband David Furnish — decided to encourage fans to plan for their retirement years, too.
In an advertisement for the sponsors of his latest tour, the musician declared: “You and I have traveled this Yellow Brick Road together for decades, and I want to do what I can to make sure that what lies ahead for my fans is as rewarding as possible. It has always been important to me to take a stand for human dignity at every stage of life.”. Securing tomorrow is something we all deserve.”

Ironically, Elton paraphrased his own song in his speech: Your Song: “I don’t have a lot of money, but boy if I had.” And by all appearances, the British star sure has a lot of money on him now.
Ticket prices for his farewell tour amounted to 1,500 pounds sterling, and the proceeds from ticket sales will not bring him more than 830 million pounds sterling. Elton now plans to cut back on work to spend more time with his sons Zachary, 12, and Elijah, 10.
Their farewell UK tour will end in style at the Glastonbury Festival in June.
