A driver stops on the highway to save a turtle and causes accidents

A motorist tried to cut Highway 331 S in Florida to let a turtle try to cross the driveway.

The handling was badly signaled to other drivers and, within seconds, caused a chain of accidents.

No one was hurt and the animal was evaluated and directed to a lake in the area.

Among the cars involved in the collision was a large truck, which recorded the video (look up).

According to the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), the legislation sets some guidelines on how to proceed when there are animals on the road.

  • slow down: When you see animals on the road, reduce your speed safely and be ready to stop the vehicle if necessary.
  • Increase interest: Pay attention and watch out for the animals on the road. They can act unpredictably and suddenly cross the road.
  • science: Activate warning lights (hazard signals) to warn other drivers of the presence of animals on the road.
  • don’t shriek: Avoid excessive use of the horn, as this can frighten and disorient animals, increasing the risk of accidents.
  • Do not attempt to override: Avoid overtaking animals, especially if they are in front of your vehicle. Try to keep a safe distance and wait for the animals to move away or be removed from the area.
  • Notify the authorities: If you encounter animals on the road in dangerous places or where they pose a great danger, report it to the appropriate authorities, such as the police or traffic authorities, so that they can take appropriate action.
