WhatsApp is finally testing screen sharing in video calls

More than launching new posts, the WhatsApp It makes an effort not to lag behind its direct competitors. Proof of this is that the messaging app should also gain a functionality that allows screen sharing in video calls very soon.

How it works

In practice, this screen sharing option will be integrated into WhatsApp video calls. The procedure is available for testing in beta version 2.23.11.19 of WhatsApp, therefore, only those participating in the test program in the Google Play Store have access to the function at the moment.

Starting with the update, users will have access to a new button that will allow them to share their screen while a video call is in progress. To do this, simply tap the button to open the Android permission box, thus starting to send the screen to the other participants in the call.

In short, it is important to note that screen sharing may not work on mobiles with older versions of Android, as well as on mobiles with outdated WhatsApp.

Other changes

This new version of WhatsApp also has a new arrangement of tabs at the bottom of the screen. Now they look like this, from right to left: chats, calls, communities and status.

Finally, it should be noted that there is still no expectation that the feature will be released in the most stable version of the app. Likewise, it is also not known when iOS users will get access to the new one. However, the tests are expected to be released to more users starting next week.
