Masterop has invited travel agents from Minas Gerais on a tour of Piranhas, Alagoas, to learn about the projects that are transforming tourism in the city. Today, the municipality is the third most visited destination in Alagoas, after Maragogi and Maceió, coastal tourist attractions. Piranhas are featured on the national tourism scene, with tours that explore the beauty of the São Francisco river and its valleys and the stories of Cangaso, Lambio and his gang.

Starting from the Hotel Pedra do Sino, in Piranhas, the delegation of travel agencies from the state of Minas Gerais, consisting of 14 agents from nine agencies, gathered through com. masteropin partnership with Ecotour lampsAnd the magic of Cangaso Road and the Sao Francisco River.

The day began with the arrival of the agents of the State of Minas Gerais at the Angico restaurant, a restaurant that welcomed the delegation with gastronomic products from the hinterland, such as Coroa de Frade jelly, fried fish, farofa and fruits typical of the area.

The Cangaso Trail then begins, a tour that includes a visit to Grota do Anjico, where Lampio and his gang are ambushed, culminating in the killing of the bandit chief. The tour begins with a sail down the São Francisco River, with many boating options for large groups and even couples looking for something more exclusive.

The road to Grota can be taken from two points: starting from the Angico restaurant, via a steeper path of about 600 meters long – the same one used by the soldiers who executed Lampio – or via the Cangaço EcoParque restaurant, on a less steep path. A track with a length of about 1.7 km. The two trails culminate in the place where soldiers surprise Lampio and his squad in a shootout that kills Brazil’s most famous cangasero, whose history fuels much of the local tourism.

The delegation had lunch at the Cangaço Eco Parque restaurant, which, in addition to regional dishes, offers exclusive bathing areas on the banks of the Velho Chico River. Soon after, the group continued to discover crafts in the village of Entremontes, famous for its embroideries known as Punto de Cruz, Boa Nuit, and Rendende. In the village, the delegation of the State of Minas Gerais, through the tour guide Cicero, visited the other points plundered by Lambio, as well as the Intermontes embroidery company that exports handicrafts from the region to the United States and Europe.

Back in the center of the Piranhas, the traveling agents of Minas were escorted to the place where the head of Lampião and that of his companions appeared at the door of the town hall, which at that time served as the residence of one of the colonels of the city. The group was accompanied by Fabio Mora, a tour guide and local artist who has already represented Lampio in several national productions, including participation in some Brazilian films.

The day ended with dinner at the new gastronomic center of Piranhas, Ruta do Chico, which has many culinary options, as well as space and shows for children. See some photos from the first day of the travel agent’s delegation from the state of Minas Gerais to the municipality of Piranhas (AL).
