UK Labor opposition leader reshuffles team ahead of national election

UK Labor leader Keir Starmer on Monday reshuffled his staff ahead of next year’s national election, appointing his deputy Angela Rayner as head of crime policy. Social differences.

A popular MP among party members, Rainer has played a key role in shadowing the Conservative government’s policies that seek to address regional inequality in the UK.

He will also shadow Oliver Dowden and Deputy Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

“Kair is delighted Angela has taken on this important role and will continue to be the strategic leader of the new Labor deal for workers,” a party source said.

Labor is well ahead in opinion polls ahead of national elections expected next year, but the party is cautious in its approach, realizing it must win back traditional supporters who defected to the Conservatives in 2019.

Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson won a huge majority in 2019 as he exploited anger in traditionally Labor-backed areas of northern and central England, and his “balance agenda” has become one of his top priorities.

Elections next year are expected to focus on rebalancing and how the two parties plan to alleviate social and economic disparities, particularly between England’s wealthier southeast and former industrial regions.

Mr Sunak, Johnson’s successor, has been criticized for failing to prioritize his agenda to tackle social inequality, with some questioning whether he is too concerned about losing traditional Conservative voters in wealthier parts of southern England.
