After a few weeks of announcement and months of testing phase, WhatsApp has finally released support for sharing photos and videos in HD for all users.
Confirmation came via the messenger’s spokesperson, Eli Hetrick, at the gate. the edge. Meta also confirmed the feature’s global arrival with a promotional video on Threads, on the messaging app’s official profile, as you can see below:
To use the new capability, just select a photo or video from your Camera Roll. At the top of the screen, to the left of the crop tool, the “HD” button will appear. You have to select it and then choose from the list that appears if you want Standard Quality or HD Quality.
Until then, WhatsApp users only had the option to send photos with high compression, which lowers the quality of the capture. In practice, this left the messenger behind other competitors, who already offered the function of transmitting in high definition.
If this possibility has not reached you yet, it is worth checking if there is any pending update for WhatsApp for your cell phone. You can check for an update in the official stores for Android and iOS, through the links on the card below the text.
