Maroon 5 performs at Arena MRV with more enthusiasm than at The Town

It was just after 10:30pm when Maroon 5 took the stage at Arena MRV. The band had no trouble getting the crowd excited, after all, and in addition to the majority being there because of them, Jota Quest fulfilled their duty to keep the energy there.

The California band opened their concert with the duet “Moves Like Jagger” and “This Love.” In contrast to the group’s last performance, at The Town, Rio’s sister rock festival in São Paulo, this Saturday’s show was more lively. Adam Levine had with him “a good voice (he hits the highest notes easily) and he didn’t seem to get tired, quite the opposite. He explored the entire stage space, dancing and howling, as he usually does. He even ventured a ‘thank you’ in Portuguese.

When he finished the song “This Love,” he praised the new stadium and invited the audience to sing along with him. The minstrel said: “Look how beautiful this new stadium is. I know you like to sing with us. Sing with us.”

After that, the band had hits such as “Stereo Hearts”, “Another Night”, “Animals”, “Love Somebody”, “I Heard a Breath”, and “Lucky Stroke”.

“I love you guys,” Levine said before singing “Sunday Morning.”

The set also included “I Wanna Be Your Lover,” “What Lovers Do,” and “Memories.”

In this last song, Levine takes advantage of the romantic guitar base to craft a traditional glorification of Brazil.

“My Portuguese is really bad. But I will say we really loved coming to Brazil. The people, the energy, the passion you have. It’s our favorite place to go. So make the most of it, and sing with us. Because ‘the music is inside every song.’ I promise I will improve my Portuguese next time,” he said before starting to sing the song.

Another highlight is the collaboration between musicians James Valentine (guitar), Mickey Madden (bass), Matt Flynn (drums), Jesse Carmichael (keyboards), PJ Morton (backing keyboards), and Sam Farrar (backing bass), as a score. 20 years partnership.
