The Rector of the State University of Ceará (Uece) received Professor Patrick Swansea from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana this Wednesday (27) afternoon.
On the occasion, the universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions, Uece, KNUST and University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom. The collaboration aims to facilitate the exchange of students between universities; Collaboration on research projects of mutual interest; Exchange of information including, but not limited to, exchange of library materials and research publications, among other activities.
Professor Patrick Swanzey noted that he felt very welcome at Uece, impressed by the welcome he received at the Itaperi campus and at the Uece campus in Limoeiro do Norte. “I believe that the memorandum we have signed will serve the mutual benefit of the institutions and we will be able to learn new practices with the partner universities”, commented Professor English. Swansea said that this was his first visit to Ceará and that he would like to return more often, and that his area of study, refugee education, has the potential to have many exchanges with Uece professors.
For the rector of Uece, Professor Hidelbrando Soares, the signed memorandum only tends to strengthen the university’s internationalization policy. “After signing this memorandum, Uece expands international cooperation, enabling South-South exchanges for our students and our teachers”.
University representatives also exchanged gifts. Uece Rector received a typical Ghana banner and country-made chocolate; And KNUST representative received Uece button and virtual books from Uece Publishing, Technology Portfolio and Management Project. Also the Head of the Office of the Rectory, Prof. Aldemar Muniz, the Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Applied Linguistics, Prof. Nugacia Araújo; Coordinator of the Office of International Cooperation, Prof. Khadma Marquez; and Professors Sandra Gadelha, Ernandi Mendes.
