German exports fall again in August – Economy

On an annual basis, compared to August 2022, Germany’s exports decreased by 5.8%, while imports increased by 16.8%.

German exports totaled 127,900 million euros in August, down 1.2% compared to the previous month, whose value had already fallen 1.9%, according to data reviewed by the German Federal Statistics Agency (Desatis).

As for German imports, they also declined in August compared to July, by 0.4% to 111,400 million euros.

On an annual basis, compared to August 2022, Germany’s exports decreased by 5.8%, while imports increased by 16.8%. In August, German exports to the European Union totaled 69,600 million euros, 1.5% less than in July, including 48,800 million euros destined for eurozone countries, 2.6% less.

Regarding imports from European Union countries, they reached 60 thousand million euros in August, an increase of 1.9%, with a 3.2% monthly increase in purchases from the euro area, to 40,200 million euros.

Exports of goods to third countries amounted to 58,300 million euros in August, while imports from these countries totaled 51,300 million euros, representing a decrease of 0.9% and 3%, respectively. The main destination for German exports in August was the United States, where their value amounted to 13,300 million euros, 1.3% less than in July, ahead of the 8,400 million euros sold to China, plus 1.2%, while exports to the United Kingdom decreased by 4.2% to 6000. million euros.

In August, the majority of German imports originated from China, worth €13 billion, representing a 2% decrease compared to the previous month.

Imports from the United States decreased by 3.1% to 7,600 million euros, and purchases from the United Kingdom decreased by 0.9% to 3,000 million euros in the same period.
