The exciting controversy that opened the 2021 Formula 1 season, championship Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, has brought positive data for the class around the world. If Brazil Band managed to beat the record for a few minutes in a fight for third place on open TV, there were records in other countries in terms of audiences.

One of them was Holland, the home of Verstappen. In Orange Country, the audience was a record: on Ziggo TV, an F1 broadcasting channel, 2.51 million people watched the Bahrain Grand Prix on average, with peaks exceeding 3 million, making the race the most watched there.

In the UK, where seven-time champion Hamilton was born, a new milestone has been reached in terms of pay-TV: 1.98 million people, on average, were connected during the race in Sakhir at Sky Sports Formula 1 and Sky Sports Main Event.

The peak reached 2.23 million viewers, which standardized audiences in the category on closed channels. Additionally, these numbers mean a 42% increase in the audience compared to the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix, and a 31% increase in the previous championship opening in Austria.

Finally, there was also a record in the US, a place Liberty Media never concealed that it focused on winning: The average audience was 879,000 people on ESPN 2, the broadcasting channel. It is already a number greater than all of the 2020 races, in addition to being the highest number reached on ESPN 2 since 1995 – and the largest audience in the Bahrain Grand Prix since it began playing.

In Brazil, Band closed with the same 5.1 points from the track record, behind him in the tiebreak. Each point represents an audience of 76,557 families and 205,377 individuals – as measured in São Paulo.
