In an interview with the site GizmodoInsomniac Games commented on the future Marvel Spider-Man Taking into account what happens at the end Marvel Spider-Man 2.
Read below the most important excerpt from the interview, which suggests Miles will have a big role:
io9: You’ve said previously that you knew right away that you wanted to play Venom. Does this also apply to ending this game with Miles as the “main” Spider-Man from now on?
Britney Morris: It was always very natural and I think we all collectively believed it would happen. To me, this shows great growth for Miles; At the beginning of the game we see him struggling to figure out what he wants to do with his life. In the end, Miles carried the burden of saving the city and also carried Pete when Pete was not strong enough to support himself at several points. That’s what’s great about writing a story about two Spider-Men: they’re both strong, and one can be strong when the other isn’t. Eventually, Miles became more confident and said, “Yes, I can do it.” How much worse could things get after what we just went through?
Ben Arfman: And I repeat what Britney said: the idea of a Spider-Man story was always essential to this game. I think from the beginning we knew we wanted that moment to hand over the reins. And as we developed it, as we started drawing more paths to that moment, it seemed more and more right. I think John wrote that scene in Aunt May’s garage, and it’s one of my favorite scenes. The way Miles senses exactly what Pete is thinking and keeps him from stumbling while trying to hand over the mask. “You know I got this, bro,” Miles says, and it’s a sweet moment between the two. It seemed like a natural outcome. I’m not sure when we decided to do this specifically, but it always felt like it was the only way the game would end.
io9: Before taking Miles to this point, he was sidelined while Peter became more involved with Harry and later with the Symbiote. This is obviously intentional, but do you ever worry too much about leaving Miles on the back burner?
Britney Morris: I entered [na equipe de Marvel’s Spider-Man 2] Probably about a month into production, and I remember wondering how I felt about the two Spider-Men. Through the eyes of the player who doesn’t know what will happen next, they asked if I thought the distribution between the two was good. There was always constant checking back and forth with North Star to make sure we were moving towards the kind of story we wanted to tell with these two heroes.
Ben Arfman: We always knew that this wasn’t a story of a mentor and apprentice, but about two Spider-Men who are incredibly good at what they do. The opening sees them with the Sandman having a strong partnership, which is then challenged not only by Harry and the symbiote, but also by Mister Negative. All of these things appear to challenge this basic partnership. During the development process, we push and pull things in different directions because we pride ourselves on being a team where great ideas can come from anywhere. But we always had confidence that we would serve both Spider-Men and tell an exceptional story starring each of them.
