The Digital Government Secretariat of the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (SGD/MGI) and the Embassy of the United Kingdom signed this Monday (13/11), “a memorandum of understanding strengthening the cooperation program between the United Kingdom and Brazil. Digitization and digital transformation of the public sector”. The document was signed by the President of SGD, Rogério Mascarenhas, and the United Kingdom Ministerial Counselor (Deputy Head of the British Mission in Brazil), Melanie Hopkins, at the MGI headquarters in Brasilia.
At this event, a “Guide of Good Practices for Digital Access” was presented, which is the result of the first round of activities that will now be deepened by the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding. Next focuses on topics like privacy and security.
“This collaboration is a renewal of a process that has been going on since 2020. We focused a lot on looking at the experience of the United Kingdom in the issue of these portals and how the communication was carried out. It was a very successful experience. This second cycle is improving in terms of security and privacy and access. Structures and training They have collaborated a lot on issues. This cycle continues,” said the Secretary of Digital Government. Mascarenhas recalled that the Brazilian counterpart has been presented in different ways. “In particular, in the way we managed to reach this level of scale. This is a partnership that should last for many years”, he emphasized.
“Both Brazil and the United Kingdom are interested in using these new technologies to improve public services, but with inclusion”, comments Melanie Hopkins. “This exchange, based on open conversations, within the organization, will help both parties. Due to the size of Brazil and the level of ambition in the digital area in this period, the United Kingdom also learns a lot from Brazil”, the UK adviser added.
Digital Government
Luana Roncarati, Undersecretary of SGD/MGI, presented the issues considered as Brazil’s priorities in government and digital transformation, with the ability to cooperate with the G-20 agenda in this area.
“We are very active in the Digital Economy Group. It is a very cross-cutting topic that involves many ministries. Among the topics we see with a lot of potential is the discussion on ‘digital government’ and its role in creating digital public infrastructures,” Luana explained. He highlighted that discussions on connectivity and access infrastructure are also a priority, as they are highly relevant topics for Brazil.
