The Federal District is among the units of the Federation that will receive the first shipment of dengue vaccines, after the Ministry of Health responded to a priority request from the Government of the Federal District (GDF) due to the emergency situation, given the large number of cases of the disease. The number of doses was not disclosed.
Children aged 10 to 14 years are the target audience for immunization and are the ones who have the highest number of hospitalizations due to the disease. “We ask for anticipation, and priority in the availability of vaccines here in the Federal District. The Ministry of Health informed us that our application has been approved. “We will receive the first shipment, which will contribute significantly to the fight against dengue.”
The vaccine has two doses. The first is expected to be implemented in February, and no date has been set yet. The second must be three months apart.
Qdenga, produced by the Takeda laboratory, was integrated into the Unified Health System (SUS) in December last year, after analysis conducted by the National Committee for Integration of Technologies into SUS (Conitec). In total, there will be 6 million doses that will be distributed across the country.
