A 38-year-old man broke into the zoo's lion enclosure to take a selfie with the big cat, but the animal attacked him and died. The case was registered on Thursday (15) in India.
The man, identified as Prahlad Gujar, entered the building after breaking into a restricted area that was not open to the public. One of Gujar's handlers warned of the dangers, but he ignored the warnings.
Gujar climbed a fence more than 7 meters high and jumped to the place where the lions were. One of the animals attacked him before his caretaker could intervene.
The case is being investigated by the police. An autopsy will be performed on the man to determine whether he was intoxicated when he entered the building.
Gujar was visiting the zoo alone and authorities are trying to contact the family.
The area invaded by Gujjar contains three lions, and the animal that attacked him has been moved to a cage and will be kept under observation.
