The city of São José dos Campos will carry out an anti-dengue operation in the south of the city on Tuesday (20). Through this measure, residents will be able to dispose of unused items, so that the city council can collect and dispose of them properly, preventing these items from becoming a potential breeding ground for dengue mosquitoes.
According to the organization, the operation, called Casa Lemba, will be carried out on Tuesday in the neighborhoods of Parque Interlagos, Torrao de Oro and Jardim Mesquita, in the southern area of the city.
Neighborhood residents must leave items that can serve as fertile ground (cans, pots, bottles, cloth, sanitary ware, buckets, barrels, folding pools or any other container in which water accumulates) in front of properties, from 8:30 a.m. to 2.:30 pm until assembly is completed.
The aim of this measure is to raise awareness among the population, collect as much useless material as possible and reduce the availability of breeding sites for the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits dengue, Zika and chikungunya.
