During his visit to the United Kingdom, the FBN President met the United Kingdom's Deputy Minister for Culture, Lord Parkinson, on March 11. The following day, he attended the opening of the London Book Fair and met the company's chairman, David Roche, and director Gareth Robley. On the same date, he met Roly Keating, director of the British Library, one of the largest libraries in the world. Prior to the trip, Marco Lucchesi had already met company directors remotely, along with representatives from their respective technical areas, in order to create mutual cooperation activities between the companies.
On March 13, Marco Lucchesi visited the National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh. The next day, he met the British Council Committee. And on the 14th, he met with Justin Simons, Deputy Mayor of the City of London for Culture and Creativity and founder of the World Cities Culture Forum (WCCF). On March 15, he met Neil McCann, Director of International Partnerships at the Tate Modern Museum in London.
UK-Brazil Year of Culture 2025-26
The project aims to create a calendar of significant activities in the arts, giving greater visibility to the different forms of cultural expression of the two peoples, highlighting their diversity and diversity. Aims to strengthen the ties of friendship, mutual trust and cultural ties between the United Kingdom and Brazil through a strong and comprehensive action plan between the last months of the second half of 2025 and the first half of 2026; as well as making new connections to professionals and cultural institutions in Brazil and the United Kingdom.
These initiatives will take place in the United Kingdom and Brazil, working with artists, companies, festivals and venues in a variety of activities that seek to reach larger audiences. The British Council will be responsible for regulating the activities of the United Kingdom in Brazil. The Brazilian Embassy in London and the Guimarães Rosa Institute are responsible for organizing Brazilian activities in the United Kingdom.
A Brazilian delegation was present in the United Kingdom for the purpose of an initial scoping visit by representatives of the Brazilian government and the Department of Culture in relation to the United Kingdom-Brazil Year of Culture 2025-26.
