São Paulo hosts the 28th Gay Pride Parade this Sunday. This year, the event will feature more than 16 electric trios with performances by Pablo Vittar, Gloria Grof and Felipe Cato, starting at 10 a.m. on Avenida Paulista, in the center of the capital.

For the first time since 1997, Parada will take a different route, because of the works in Paulista, the trio will walk on the strange side of the street. The public will be directed to enter the event via Haddock Lobo and Bella Sintra Streets.

This year's theme is: “Enough of Neglect and Legislative Setback – Vote Consciously for LGBT Rights.”

The theme proposal, according to its organizers, is to encourage discussions about the need to have representatives who understand and welcome the demands of the LGBTQIAPN+ community, adhere to inclusive laws and are committed to diversity.

About 1,400 police officers will beef up security at the event. To prevent cell phone theft and other crimes, some plainclothes customers will spread out among the crowds, as happened during the carnival.

The Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP) also developed a special scheme to monitor the party. Last week, agents began monitoring social networks to identify groups or organizations intending to commit crimes.
