ByteDance, the company that owns TikTok, has launched a new Instagram-like app called Whee. This new platform aims to share photos exclusively with your close friends.
According to the specialized website Android Police and founder of APKMirror, Artem Rusakovsky, the application is now available for download in “more than a dozen countries” on the Android system, although it has not yet reached the United States and Brazil.

The app description on Google Play states that Whee is a new social network designed to keep users in touch with their close friends in life's spontaneous moments. It lets you take realistic photos and share them that only friends can see, enhancing authenticity. Whe is the best place to share moments with close friends.
Some images of the app's layout have been provided, showing the Messages section and Whee's feed.
This is not the first time ByteDance has launched an Instagram-inspired app. In April this year, the company started launching TikTok Notes, a photo-sharing app.
TikTok Notes is seen as a competitor to Instagram and even Facebook, as it focuses exclusively on photos, unlike the company's other app, which focuses on videos.
A post on X (formerly Twitter) announced that the beta version of Notes is only available to users in Australia and Canada. There is no information yet about the launch in other countries.
