The legal dispute between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt has been going on for almost a decade, with the former couple discussing the sale of the actress's stake in the Château Miraval winery – a winery they bought together in 2008. This Wednesday (17), the actress's legal case will be held and the team has released a statement in which Jolie appeals to her ex-husband, asking for an end to the dispute so that the family can “find a path to healing”.

In a memo to TMZ, attorney Paul Murphy asked Pitt to drop the lawsuit against the Eternals star. The move prevents Angelina from selling her stake in the property, which they split 50/50, until 2021.

Murphy also suggested that the continued proceedings against his client would be a way to punish Angelina and “cover up” Pitt's abusive behavior. “In doing so, Pitt directly questioned why he was trying to punish and control Angelina by demanding an NDA. (unspoken agreement) “Recently to cover up his personal misconduct and abuse. These procedures are essential to this process. The legal dispute between Pitt and Jolie began when the actress decided to sell her stake in the winery. In response, Pitt filed a lawsuit claiming that the sale violated a prior agreement under which he had committed to buying those shares.

Jolie responded to the allegation with a countersuit, alleging that Brad modified their previous agreement by refusing to receive her shares in the property unless she agreed to sign a more comprehensive non-disclosure agreement (NDA). According to her, the arrangement was an attempt to cover up incidents of physical abuse against her and her children. Pitt's lawyers have strongly denied the allegation.

In June 2023, Pitt's team filed documents indicating that Jolie was the one who initially requested the more comprehensive NDA. Understand the case by clicking here.
