Charlotte Dujardin has been provisionally suspended for six months by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI).

Dujardin had previously issued an apology, going so far as to say the action was an “error of judgment.” He subsequently refused to travel to the Games, and announced his withdrawal from the competition three days before the start.
The case was referred to the FEI, and the rider was provisionally suspended for six months. The body's president, Ingmar de Vos, spoke about the case.
“We are extremely disappointed by this case, especially as it is so close to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, however it is our responsibility and important that we address any instance of abuse, as the welfare of horses cannot be compromised,” the representative said.
UK Sport, a government agency that invests in Olympic and Paralympic sport in the UK, also spoke.
– In accordance with our eligibility policy, Charlotte Dujardin’s eligibility to receive public funding and access to publicly funded benefits is now suspended pending the outcome of the FEI investigation. We now need to allow the FEI investigation to conclude before making any further comment.
Charlotte has won three gold medals at the Olympic Games: two at London 2012 (individual and team), and Rio 2016 (individual). In Tokyo she took bronze on both fronts.
