Dr Dave Hogben, 40, died after falling into a river and being eaten by a crocodile while on a family outing at Crocodile Bend, Queensland, Australia. The case was reported last Saturday (3).
Dave was walking with his wife and three children, aged two, five and seven, along the banks of the Annan River. The family were from Newcastle, Australia, and were on holiday in the area. According to the Daily Mail, the doctor slipped and fell into the water.
His wife Jane managed to reach the river's edge to try to pull him to the surface. However, when Dave saw that the woman was also slipping, he let go of her and fell into the current.
The man was then bitten and carried away by a crocodile about 5 metres long. The attack took place in front of the couple's children.
Last Tuesday, local authorities slaughtered (8) animals of the same size in the area. The remains of the doctor were found inside the reptiles' stomach.
