Laura Carneiro: Patient care will be multidisciplinary

The Finance and Tax Committee of the Chamber of Deputies has approved Bill No. 2463/21, which provides assistance to people with atopic dermatitis in the Unified Health System (SUS).

The rapporteur, Deputy Laura Carneiro (PSD-RJ), recommended approving the text with a amendment To determine that monitoring of patients with atopic dermatitis will give priority to the fields of dermatology, psychiatry, psychology and allergology.

“With the amendment, the proposal now finds support in the constitutional and legal obligations that already regulate the unified subscription system, without any effect of the subject in increasing or decreasing public revenues or expenditures,” explained Laura Carneiro.

Atopic dermatitis is one of the most common types of skin allergy and mainly affects children. It is a chronic, non-contagious, genetic disease that causes dry skin, rashes and scaling. Several risk factors contribute to the development of this disease, which may be accompanied by asthma or rhinitis.

“Atopic dermatitis can cause suffering, and the prevalence of psychiatric disorders is high,” said the bill’s author, former Rep. Regan Dias (PI). “The disease, with visible skin lesions, impacts the emotional health of patients.”
