Later today (Tuesday the 20th), Xbox and Bethesda announced during the Gamescom opening ceremony that they will be streaming a new Starfield trailer that announces the addition of the REV-8 ground vehicle to the game and also confirms the Shattered Story Space expansion will be coming on September 30th of this year.
Arriving via a free August update, the REV-8 is a new land vehicle that gives players the freedom to explore new areas and reach new heights with a powerful means of transportation, as we can see in detail in the trailer above.
The REV-8 is equipped with an integrated turret and additional armor for added protection and enough space to carry a full team. Additionally, the vehicle also has thrusters that allow it to accelerate quickly or perform jumps to reach previously inaccessible areas, providing more ways to explore difficult areas.
To utilize the REV-8 in-game, you must have the vehicle module installed by a ship specialist. Once installed on the selected ship, the REV-8 will automatically be placed outside the ship at the location where the player lands.
August update brings new performance modes
Starting with the update, gamers also have the option to set the frame rate to 30, 40, 60, or unlimited on VRR (variable refresh rate) enabled displays. For those without a 120Hz VRR display, the available rates are 30 or 60 frames, with the 60 frame setting potentially causing tearing.
You can prioritize graphics or performance. For frame rates of 60 or higher, it is recommended to use the performance setting, which reduces resolution and graphical detail to maintain smoothness.
Prioritizing graphics maintains high resolution and visual effects, but may impact performance in more intense scenes. Both modes dynamically adjust resolution based on the graphical demands of the scene and cause a slight change in lighting when switching between them. Additionally, you can enable or disable VSync.
Shattered Space Expansion Arrives September 30, 2024
“Shattered Space” will be released on September 30, 2024 and will include players who already own the Premium or Constellation editions. Starfield You will be able to access this additional content at no additional cost.
Those who own the base edition can only purchase the premium upgrade, which includes not only “Shattered Space,” but also a digital comic book, the original soundtrack, 1,000 Creations Credits, and the Constellation Skin Pack.
Starfield is available for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and the Xbox Game Pass catalog.
