Venezuelan activist and lawyer Tamara Sojo commented on the case on her social media, highlighting the ongoing repression in Venezuela:

“It seems that tyranny is practicing (…) the “long dagger week” while a part of the international community turns a blind eye to the biggest and most shameless theft of elections in America!”

Longo's arrest comes just days after his unexpected dismissal from the newspaper Últimas Noticias, where he worked for almost 20 years. On August 20, she shared on her social networks:

“Today, a phase of my life that lasted almost 20 years has come to an end, and I am four days away from going on vacation.”
