Paramedics, nursing technicians and nurses in Pernambuco are observing the national strike to be held on Wednesday (06/30), in defense of Bill 2564/2020 establishing the national floor and the 30-hour weekly nursing workload. Car processions will also be held in some cities of the state. In Recife, the assembly is scheduled from 8 am, in front of Chevrolet Hall, in Olinda. The road will continue to the State Secretariat of Administration (SAD), in Pena.

The same activity will also take place in Caruaru (in Vera Cruz, 8 a.m.), Arcoverde (in Praça Bandeirante, 8 a.m.), Garanhuns (in Praça Mestre Dominguinhos, 8 a.m.) and Petrolina (in Porta do Rio, 8 a.m.) . The law aims to put pressure on the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (DEM), who is in charge of the agenda in the upper chamber. According to the statements of other senators, the text has already obtained the necessary number of approval.

At the end of the procession, the representatives who make up the Forum of Nursing Entities in Pernambuco intend to hand over a document to SAD asking for some agendas to be negotiated: salary readjustment, maximum unsanitary conditions (40%), end of the eleventh shift, among other points already made To the Pernambuco government, which has not yet had a dialogue with the unions.

“Pernambucan Senator Fernando Bezerra Coelho (MDB), the leader of Bolsonaro’s government, refuses to support PT, and accepts pressure from mayors and the private sector who claim that the economic impact makes approval of the matter not possible. The budget will be a political decision for the government that can find mechanisms for its continuity,” he said. Francis Herbert, President of the Professional Association of Nursing Assistants and Technicians of Pernambuco (Sattinbe).

Francis also cautioned that the private sector’s argument against PL does not hold. “During the pandemic, entrepreneurs have had a massive increase in their income, and therefore their profits. The money that, if returned to the union coffers, will be an important source to ensure the financing of this measure,” he added, adding that in 2020, the bills of net profits accumulated in medical health and hospitals tranche size amounted to 15 billion Brazilian reais in the first three quarters of 2020, according to the National Health Agency. (ANS).

Forum – The Forum of Nursing Entities of Pernambuco, which is responsible for this law, recognizes that financial recognition is urgent and will work to defend the rights of these professionals. Mid-level nursing workers in the state, who have been without a pay adjustment for more than 10 years, are getting one of the worst salaries in Brazil. The minimum wage is R$774, less than the minimum wage.

The Forum consists of the Professional Association of Nursing Assistants and Technicians of Pernambuco (SATENPE), the Federation of Nurses of the State of Pernambuco (SEEPE), the Regional Council of Nursing of Pernambuco (COREN-PE) and the Brazilian Nursing Association.
