The Embraer KC-390 won the “Concours d'Elegance” award for the world's most elegant aircraft. Received the award for the category Portuguese Air Force Participant in this weekend's Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAD) Air Festival in England.
The award is judged by an international panel that distinguishes the best manufactured and delivered aircraft at the show.
The Concours d'Elegance is divided into three categories: Military Aircraft, Civil Aircraft and Grand Winner, which is the most important. A Portuguese Air Force aircraft took the most notable trophy.
Portugal was the first country to purchase a Brazilian military aircraft in 2019. At that time the Portuguese government announced the purchase of five K-390 cargo planes for 827 million euros.
The second unit of the KC-390 was delivered to the Portuguese in June this year.

The aircraft has also been used in other catastrophic situations: At the height of the second wave of the Covid pandemic crisis, in January 2021, Manas recorded a shortage of oxygen at a hospital treating critically ill patients.
Most recently, the Jornal Nacional followed a KC-390 with supplies from Rio de Janeiro to Rio Grande do Sul.
Soldiers headed to Rio Grande do Sul airlifted 14 tons of equipment to build a field hospital — items like tarpaulins, stretchers and refrigeration equipment.
