An English language teaching platform with training resources for teachers is starting to be implemented in institutions

The 2023 academic year will begin with an international pedagogic innovation in Municipal Elementary Schools (EMEFs), Engenheiro Dario Granja Sant’anna, Guerino Zugno, Manoel Pereira dos Santos, Nova Esperança and Padre João Schiavo – representatives of these five territories. This innovation comes at no additional cost to public coffers through a cooperation agreement between Caxias do Sul and the United Kingdom that was made official this Thursday (27) afternoon.

“The project is based on three fronts: teacher training, access to teaching materials and events and news in English. We want to see more and more citizens updated, connected and innovative”, announced the representative of the British government, during the formalization of the partnership, EMEF Engenheiro Dario Granja Sant’ anna courtyard, Bairro Santo Antônio, Consul Michael Delaney.

The site will provide educators with online access to guidelines, national education materials and in particular the LIFT course (Language Development for Teachers), guides and references for primary education aligned with the European Common Framework and the National Common Curriculum Platform (BNCC). – Online and self-instruction.

“It is a tool to bring more competence in teaching English in the municipal network, even in terms of providing training for teachers,” commented Paula Martinazzo, Pedagogical Director of the Municipal Education Department (SMED).

Developed and delivered by the United Kingdom, the objectives of the program include expanding access to quality English language teaching, improving the public education system, reducing inequalities and increasing employment opportunities.
