a Steve Bannon arrested, a former political advisor to Donald Trump, a mentor to the radical right and an ally of the Bolsonaro family, ran for a few hours. Federal Judge Robin Meriwether released him without bail but made a series of oath-taking demands. Bannon is under investigation for contempt of the US Congress after he refused to cooperate with the investigation into the attack on the CapitolHeld on January 6, 2021 by supporters of Donald Trump.

Steve will respond freely. He agreed to have a weekly check with court officials, hand over his passport and notify any travel within the country. Bannon will only be able to travel internationally if permitted by a court.

The Capitol Attack Commission wants Bannon to testify because it believes he “had some prior knowledge of the extremist events that occurred” on January 6. Five people were killed in the attack and more than 570 legally responsible for the crime.

The complaint against Bannon was filed by Attorney General Merrick Garland and upheld by the Federal Court. The contempt trial will take into account Bannon’s refusal to appear for a hearing with the House committee investigating the attack on the US Capitol.

Bannon is also accused Failure to deliver documents requested by Congress that may contain information about the attack. Each indictment carries a prison sentence of 30 days to one year, plus a fine of up to $100,000.

Upon his release, Bannon announced that his team would “continue the offensive.” At his side was David Schoen, the attorney who defended Trump in the former president’s second impeachment. Schoen said Bannon did not attend the House committee’s scheduled hearings because he followed the strategic attorney’s instructions at the time.

Trump came to the defense of the former adviser, who pardoned him on his final day as US president. “This country may never have done to anyone what it did to Steve Bannon,” Trump said, calling America an “extreme anarchy.”

Trump is fighting in court to prevent documents produced at the White House during the January 6 rebellion from being available for congressional investigation.

Bannon is seen as something of a teacher of the radical right. In addition to working directly with Trump, he has been the editor-in-chief of the far-right website Breitbart News, is a devotee of (non-partisan) Jair Bolsonaro’s government and has met several times with Congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro (PSL).

“We’re bringing down the Biden regime,” Bannon said before turning himself in.

Bannon was arrested as a juvenile for the man’s followers. Before heading to the FBI office, he made a live broadcast on social media and asked his supporters to “keep their focus.”

“I don’t want anyone to take their eyes off what we do every day, We are bringing down the Biden regime. Stay focused on the message. This is all noise.”
