KATHMANDU – Doctors at the Nepali Medical College and Teaching Hospital have performed an unusual operation after a man sought care to remove a 12cm glass from his anus. During the consultation, the 47-year-old Nepalese man revealed that he was drunk when he inserted the vitrified object into his anus in an “entertainment” moment.

According to the scientific journal ‘Journal of Nepal Medical Association’, the man tried for three days to remove the glass cup on his own, to no avail. He sought medical help for his anxiety. He had no pain or swelling in the abdomen, anal injury, or bleeding. However, he did not poop for two days.

X-ray images, which went viral on social media, showed the cup upside down. After the manual removal procedure failed, the doctors opted for an operation, with an incision in the intestine, to avoid the risk of breaking the glass beaker.

Five days after the operation, the man started pooping again, and was discharged the next day. After the aftermath of the cases, doctors interviewed by the ‘Journal of Nepal Medical Association’ stated that rectal insertion is not uncommon in men between the ages of 30 and 40, and they appreciated soda and beer bottles, deodorant containers, wooden or rubber objects, and bones. Batteries are among the items already removed from the site.
