An asteroid three times larger than the planet Christ the Redeemer will pass near Earth in January

An asteroid three times the size of Christ the Redeemer will pass close to Earth in early 2022. It is a space rock dubbed “2013 YD48”, which has a diameter of about 104 meters and is expected to approach the planet on January 11. . The monument is located in the capital, Rio de Janeiro, at a height of 38 meters. This information was released by the US space agency (NASA) on Thursday.

The asteroid will pass 5.6 million kilometers from Earth. Although it looks far away, it is a small meridian in terms of area. According to NASA, any space object that passes within a radius of less than 7.5 million kilometers from Earth’s orbit is considered a potential danger.

NASA is observing the approach of this asteroid through the Asteroid Observation Panel. This project tracks space objects that pass relatively close to Earth.

Four more asteroids are scheduled to pass close to the planet early next year. On Sunday, the asteroid 2021 YK will be spotted 190,000 km from Earth. With a width of about 12 meters, it will be the closest space object to Earth in January.

On January 5, an asteroid 64 meters wide will pass 2.1 million kilometers from Earth. The next day, an asteroid seven meters wide (7.4 million kilometers) will pass the planet. And on the seventh day, an asteroid four meters wide will pass a distance of 1,700 kilometers.
