A Walmart employee in the US has gone viral on TikTok, after she shared a video of her saying goodbye to the store where she worked for 10 years. Since it was published on November 16, the video has received more than 24.9 million views on the platform and received more than 40,000 comments.
Gail Lewis captured the moment she finished her workday for the last time at the store where she worked in Illinois. Although the farewell was short and was broadcast over the venue’s sound system, she was emotional when she got to the car and recalled the moments she had at work.
The employee described the farewell as “the end of an era,” and stated that she felt happy and sad at the same time. “I’m going to a better job and these people became my family. I’ve been through a lot with them. They took care of me and I took care of them. We went through the pandemic together,” he said in the video.
She received a message from the management of the store where she works, according to what she reported nbc. “I am grateful for Gail’s service and will miss her very much. I wish her the best,” Carrie Moses said in a statement sent by Walmart.
Lewis did not reveal the nature of his new job due to the attention he received after the unexpected repercussions, but he stated that he had already started in the new position.
