The result was announced on Wednesday (21), during the fourth edition of the Sustainable Aviation Project. The event was held at the agency’s headquarters in Brasilia.
Two other airports also emerged in the first place, Floripa Airport (as)in a class of up to five million passengers, and Macai (RJ), in the category up to 200 thousand. In the category of up to one million passengers, there was a tie between the two airports Good view (RR) f Porto Velho (OMR).
53 airports and 13 airport operators competed in the Sustainable Airports Programme. In the SustenentAr program, which is aimed at airport operators, the highlight was LATAM Airlines ranked first in the airline category, and Flight Commanderin the air taxi category.
Sustainable Airports and SustenentAR programs are non-regulatory incentive Anac tools to disseminate sustainable actions and promote the reduction of civil aviation’s impacts on the environment, resulting from airport and airline operations, respectively. Participation of participants is voluntary and the evaluation takes into account the criteria specified in a specific notice.
New agreements enhance sustainable performance
ANAC Administrator Thiago Pereira highlighted initiatives the agency has already implemented in the region, such as the creation of an environmental policy and environmental network for aviation, and alignment with efforts of the Paris Convention on International Civil Aviation. The Agency is already developing many actions linked to the principles advocated by the Tool, such as the Equity Commission and the Integrity Policy, but now it has the responsibility to contribute to the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
The Global Sustainability Agenda for Atam
To evaluate airlines, Anac created 28 criteria of analysis. It is part of the environmental topics covered by the regulatory department and environmental education programme, energy transition, operational efficiency, atmospheric emissions and natural resources.
