The situation in Brasilia
The Federal District Health Department reported Tuesday, 30, that it is also monitoring a suspected case of the micronized variant of the coronavirus. The patient came from South Africa and was confirmed to have Covid-19.
The Central Laboratory of Public Health in DF performs the genetic sequencing of the patient’s sample. The goal is to check whether the state of the variable is or not. The result should appear within 4 days. There is still no confirmed case of the new strain in Brazil.
According to the secretariat, the man disembarked in Guarulhos on November 27 and later left for Brasilia. The flight is the same for another patient with a confirmed case of Covid-19, who was identified in São Paulo.
The patient is between 40 and 49 years old and has received 3 doses of the vaccine. The case is still asymptomatic and the traveler has been isolated in his home since his arrival in the capital.
In addition to the SP and DF, the states of Parana and Minas Gerais are also investigating suspected cases of the variant.
New Year’s Eve parties canceled in DF
The Governor of the Federal District, Ibanés Rocha, announced the abolition of parties in early 2021 to 2022, in Ministries Square and in five other administrative regions, due to the risks presented by Ômicron.
“In light of the recent news about the development of a new alternative to the Covid-19 virus, I have decided to cancel the parties scheduled for New Year’s Eve this year. We have come a long way in combating the disease and we cannot risk a setback in this fight,” Ibanes wrote on Twitter.
