Imagine a truck that can take the road. Now check out the Mercedes-Benz Arocs 8×8 M150 Trackway in the image above. Pruitt, which was recently awarded to the Fawn trackway company, received a special tool that uses a type of 50-meter rolled road in hard-to-reach places.
The technology was developed for military applications such as landing armored vehicles equipped with tracks (tracks) on muddy beaches. Despite this, nowadays it is very useful for civil operations such as transporting goods in swampy areas, reforesting trees, mining, snow or sand areas, or natural disasters.
The new Arox has a roller in its chassis where the road is rolled up. The road is constructed of 4.6 meter aluminum panels which are interconnected. The spool is carried on its side and then unloaded from behind.
While clearing the road, the lorry was driven backwards onto it. The opposite process is done for recovery.
The equipment used is the Arox 8×8 model, with a gross weight of 41 tons, and a 13-liter Mercedes-Benz engine, 476 horsepower, and a 12-speed Mercedes Powershift 3 automatic transmission.
The 8×4 drive was converted to all-wheel drive from the original factory configuration by the Custom Tailored Trucks (CTT) division of Mercedes-Benz Trucks in Molsheim, France. All four axles have differential locks and the wheels are shod with high-resistance 14.00R20 tires to ensure excellent traction.
Even with all the strength, the Truck M ClassicSpace cabin has the most advanced technology and comfort, such as MirrorCam, which replaces traditional mirrors with cameras, and a complete multimedia system in the cabin, which replaces traditional screens.
The company did not say what was the destination of the truck, which left the factory with the colors of the Austrian army.
