Lawyer Andrew Benhale revealed that a file containing evidence obtained by the British Treasury had authorized the company to review and file a complaint in court.
Ecclestone, 91, was a Formula 1 stalwart for 40 years before he was axed from his role in 2017.
The British Attorney General’s Office pointed out that the fraud charges were brought because the officer did not declare assets abroad to the IRS.
Simon York, director of the IRS Fraud Investigation Service, said the complaint follows a “complex and global criminal investigation conducted by the IRS Fraud Investigation Service.”
