This Thursday (11), the Scottish Barrier Bill and Sebastianone of the most anticipated bands of the year here in Brazil for indie rock fans, issued a note canceling their trip to South America, citing “health issues”.
More so, the group postponed their entire schedule since November 9th, which included sixteen shows across the UK. On a note, Belle & Sebastian did not clarify whether the reason for the cancellation was health issues with the band members, or concerns about the health of the musicians. Maybe a combination of both.
“While the COVID-19 pandemic is showing some signs of abating in the UK, some band members have been so personally affected that they are unable to rehearse or perform,” the band said in a statement regarding the UK cancellation. Regarding South America, the band officially posted:
Our sincere apologies to the fans who were hoping to see us on a Latin American tour next month. Due to a health issue we had to make the difficult decision to cancel this tour. In these uncertain times, we thank everyone who bought tickets to these shows, and we extend our thanks to everyone who wished us well this week. We hope it will be possible to revisit the dates at some point in the future.”
The company responsible for selling tickets, Eventim, said it will soon instruct the public to refund the amount paid for tickets. In contrast to the British tour, which was announced as a “postponement”, the trip to South America was canceled entirely. January shows in Europe are still going on. Since May, Belle & Sebastian have been touring in support of their latest album, Bit Of Previous.
