The British press reported that the British Prime Minister will face a vote of no-confidence on Monday from within his own party. Boris Johnson will be tested after the scandal of the parties he participated in during periods of confinement due to Covid-19.
To remain in office, the British leader would need half of the approval votes, plus one, for a total of 180 deputies in favor of his continuation. If that happens, and the rules are not changed in the meantime, Johnson will be safe from a new censure vote within the party for a year.
If he loses, the prime minister will relinquish the leadership of the Conservatives, who will have to find a new leader. In this case, he will also leave the post of Prime Minister of the country. The censure motion will be voted on after at least 54 Tory MPs are reached, to demand the prime minister’s departure. In a statement sent out by the Board of Governors, it was indicated that voting will take place between 6pm and 8pm on Monday.
Johnson’s office will be notified of the movement in advance and Regent points It was the Prime Minister’s team that requested speeding up the process. “Tonight we have an opportunity to end months of speculation and allow the government to close this chapter and move on, focusing on citizens’ priorities,” a source in 10 Downing Street said.
