British Consul General at Sao Paulo visits Allesp

The Legislative Assembly of the Province of Sao Paulo, this Wednesday (26) afternoon, received a visit from the Consul General of the United Kingdom in Sao Paulo, Jonathan Knott. Empowered by Speaker of the House André do Prado (PL) and several representatives for a meeting on relations between the state of São Paulo and the European country. Along with Nat, Consul General Lisa Weeden and Consular Political Analyst Felipe Augusto Morales represented the body at the event.

The Head of Mission emphasized the importance of the meeting to strengthen the relations between the United Kingdom and the Assembly, which he considers to be already strong. “The United Kingdom wants to renew this relationship, opening a new chapter. Today, we had an exchange with the delegation and the President, and we have identified some themes that we are going to evaluate in order to develop a joint agenda,” explained Jonathan Knott. .

André do Prado pointed out that it was the new assembly’s first encounter with power and that the moment mainly helped to strengthen relations with the country. “From this moment, we are going to be more, together with other meetings, to describe the actions that we are going to do in the different agendas that we established here today. Therefore, it was very useful to strengthen the relationship and reap the benefits. The future”, he said.

The President also highlighted the role of Allesp’s Commission on International Relations (CRI) in the event of the meeting and noted that the areas of economy, environment and infrastructure were mainly discussed this afternoon.

CRI’s Vice-President, Gil Diniz (PL), represented the group at the event and pointed out that tourism and possible partnerships with language courses were among the topics covered. “The commission plays a role in bringing the São Paulo parliament closer to diplomatic representatives, and we are going to bring more partnerships to the state of São Paulo,” he said.
