The cashier issues a withdrawal of 3,000 Brazilian riyals

Caixa has allowed withdrawals of up to 3 thousand Brazilian reals to beneficiaries of FGTS. Thus, workers can join the birthday withdrawal method to access the amount that is issued once a year from the worker’s birth month.

According to the bank, the amount available for redemption depends on the total balance in the individual’s account. Therefore, the amount may vary from person to person. Those with higher balance may be entitled to a fixed installment of R$2,900.

The Christmas Withdrawal acts as an alternative offered by the Bank to the Withdrawal Deposit. The method allows to withdraw part of the balance of the guarantee fund every year, always in the month of birth of the worker. A citizen can withdraw the amount within three months, after which the balance returns to his original account.

In addition, those who decide to join the Christmas withdrawal are prohibited from fully withdrawing from the FGTS in the event of a just cause dismissal. However, a 40% fine still applies in these cases.

Membership is not mandatory, the worker can choose to withdraw the amount or not. If you choose to opt out, that choice can only be undone after two years. To join the method or make changes, you must access the Meu FGTS app (bit.ly/3FT4ynB), the fund’s website (fgts.gov.br), or even search for a face-to-face service at a Caixa branch.

How does the Christmas draw work?

The Christmas Draw was released in July 2019 and allows workers to withdraw a certain amount from their accounts once a year. The method allows access to a percentage of the balance in the account, which varies according to the amount available. Thus, the higher the value in the account, the lower the percentage that the worker can withdraw annually.

Since withdrawal is not mandatory, anyone who wants to join must submit an application. The application deadline is the last working day of the Christmas month, if you exceed this deadline, you will not be able to reach it until next year.

Thus, it is the Simplified Digital Microcredit Program (SIM Digital), a novelty that aims to provide better credit options for small business owners, as well as for individuals who want to start a business.

In this way, there are two employment possibilities, one targeting those who work as a MEI (Individual Small Entrepreneur) and the other for those who are called as Sole Proprietorship Entrepreneur. The rules are:

  • MEI – Maximum contract value of R$4,500, with monthly interest starting at 1.99% per month. Proof of bills for the last 12 months is required for the CNPJ.
  • Sole Proprietorship – Fixed amount of R$1,500, with interest rates starting from 1.95% per month.

In addition, it is worth noting that both options have a maximum term of 24 months to repay the total amount of debt. However, the difference between the two methods is related to recruitment.

That is, the individual entrepreneur can apply for credit through the official Caixa Tem application (bityli.com/SVbrUS). For those working as an MEI, it will be necessary to go to a physical branch of Caixa, hence personal documents and CNPJ proof.
